five primary layers of the atmosphere

From lowest to highest, they are the troposphere (where most of the clouds live), stratosphere (where the ozone layer is), mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere.

Did you know? A sixth layer, the ionosphere, overlaps other atmospheric layers. The air is ionized by the sun’s ultraviolet rays, which affects the transmission of radio waves.
