(upbeat music) - Welcome to Magoosh. I'm Erica, the senior ACT curriculum manager, and I'm here with some tips to help you get the most out of your study with Magoosh. One of the best ways to start off in your Magoosh account is with the diagnostic.
This 60 question test incorporates some of the most common question types from each section to help you figure out what your strengths and weaknesses are and what subject dashboard you should head to next. Each section on the ACT has its own dashboard in your Magoosh account, English, math, reading, and science.
There's also one for writing. You can see it in the tabs up here. It's usually a good call to spend more time in the dashboards for sections you struggle with the most. The content on each subject dashboard is split between lessons and quiz and practice questions.
In guided practice, you'll see these grouped together in modules focused on different topics and at different levels. A great idea is to focus on completing one or more of these modules each time you log into Magoosh.
It's easy to customize the lesson videos to your learning style. You can speed them up or slow them down, turn on captions or follow along with the transcripts. As you listen, you can use the notes field to jot down what you learn.
We'll come back to this later. Quizzes and practice give you an opportunity to apply what you learned in the lesson or lessons before them in ACT style questions. Do your best as you work through these, but if anything is tricky, that's okay.
Just pop a flag on it. Now, this is probably the most important part. Once you finish the quiz or practice, you can go back and review anything you flagged or missed or took too long on. The text and video explanations for each question help you understand where you went wrong, so that next time you see something like it, you can answer it quickly and with confidence.
Just like you did in the lesson, write down any new strategies you pick up in the notes field. And if you need to come back later to review and you can't remember what you are working on, not a problem.
Just open up the review page. It stores all of your attempted questions so you can pick up where you left off. These dashboards are where you'll spend most of your time in Magoosh, but every two to four weeks, you should take a practice test to check your progress and build your test taking skills.
Remember those notes you've been taking? You can use those as a personalized study guide to prep for your practice test. Pretty cool. When you're ready for your practice test, you'll head to the practice test tab.
The online practice test filters out all of the Magoosh questions you've seen before to generate a test with all new questions for a realistic test day experience. Just like the quiz and practice questions, all of the questions in your practice test have explanations so you can keep learning from your mistakes after the timer runs out.
And if you ever want to do more subject specific practice without taking a whole practice test, you can use the custom practice option on any subject dashboard to make a quiz to your liking. Last thing. Confused about a lesson or a question or how to find something in your account or anything else ACT related?
Just click the help button at the bottom of every page in your account. We've got real live experts available to answer your questions and help you with your study. You'll hear more from me and other folks on the Magoosh team as you get closer to your test day.
But for now, good luck and happy studying.
