Personal Statement Workshop ($49)

By the end of this course, you’ll know what a good Personal Statement looks like, and you’ll have a draft started!

Who it’s for:

  • Students applying to college this year
  • Students who have not started or are early in the process of writing their Personal Statement
  • Students who have started drafting their Personal Statement and want more support
  • What we expect:

  • You agree to attend both classes
  • You agree to dedicate 2 hours of non-class time per week to work on your Personal Statement
  • Schedule and registration:

  • September 16 and September 23 (Thursdays @ 4PM PT)
  • October 14 and October 20 (Wednesdays @ 2PM PT)
  • November 3 and November 10 (Wednesdays @ 2PM PT)

  • Note: we will not be providing one-on-one Application or Personal Statement review as part of this course.

    You’ll get everything in the Personal Statement Workshop and more. We’ll walk you through the college application process, providing advice on how to curate the best application to get you into your dream college!

  • Students who want more support throughout the college application process
  • What we expect:

  • You agree to attend all classes
  • You agree to dedicate 4 hours of non-class time per week to work on your personal statement and college applications
  • Schedule and registration:

  • September 14 - September 23 (Tuesdays + Thursdays @ 4PM PT)
  • October 11 - October 20 (Mondays + Wednesdays @ 2PM PT)
  • November 1 - November 10 (Mondays + Wednesdays @ 2PM PT)

  • Note: we will not be providing one-on-one Application or Personal Statement review as part of this course.

    In our first class, we'll walk you through the college application process, with special focus on SAT/ACT scores and your transcript (GPA, course rigor, and upward trajectory).

    In this personal statement workshop, we'll go over how to choose a subject for your personal statement.

    Week 2

    Tackling College Applications 2

    In this class, we'll go over extracurriculars, letters of recommendations, and building a school list.

    In our second personal statement workshop, we'll go over the best practices and strategies for writing the essay.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What if I can’t attend all or most of the sessions?

    Attendance and active participation are crucial to your success. Our goal is to not just help you know how to start your college applications, but to give you the tools, time, and guidance to make progress in completing them.. If you can’t attend the sessions this time but are interested in future courses, sign up to be notified of future courses.

    Will these courses be available via recordings?

    Yes, the classes will be recorded. However, we do suggest attending in real-time since the classes will be more interactive and engaging that way.

    What if I have to miss a class due to unforeseen circumstances?

    We understand that life happens and sometimes you may have no choice but to miss a class. Our instructors are committed to making sure students have the resources to catch up on the material they missed in such cases. Reach out to us as soon as you can so we can help ensure you get caught up in time for the next class.

    What if the timing doesn’t work for me?

    We know the timing won’t work for everyone, and we’re hoping to bring more availability to you soon. Sign up to be notified of future courses.

    Will I get personalized support?

    At this time, we do not offer one-on-one coaching or comprehensive application review. Students do have the opportunity to ask questions and ask for additional support by dropping questions in our Discord community.

    What’s the refund policy?

    We are happy to issue you a partial refund if you are not satisfied with the course or feel like our classes don’t work for your learning style. For a 50% refund, students must cancel before the start of their second class. Any student who is issued a refund will no longer be able to join the live classes, access recordings, or access the Discord server.

    How will the classes work?

    Classes will be hosted on Zoom. You can expect each class to be a mix of: instructor presentations, hands on exercises, Q&A and class discussion.

    How will the Discord community work?

    Students will join a private Discord server with the other members who are working on their college applications and personal statements. Students will have access to the server after the course ends. The server will be a place where students can ask questions and connect with other prospective college students to share tips, resources, and support.
